Kenya, Africa
Doctor Tayeri spent two weeks in Kenya and performed 114 sight-restoring operations. Two patients were infants under 18 months of age with congenital cataracts. Donated supplies and equipment were provided and local surgeons were instructed in techniques of modern cataract surgery.
Jodhpur, India
Dr. Tayeri participated in a surgical eye camp that brought vision to 127 blind people from Jodhpur and surrounding villages in western Rajasthan. In addition to surgical treatment of blindness, the eye team identified and treated three children with night blindness from Vitamin A deficiency. Dr. Tayeri delivered a lecture on Advances in Glaucoma Surgery, and local surgeons were proctored while performing their first glaucoma drainage implant operations.
